Anyone who knows me knows I love food. Like, a lot. Almost as much as I love my partner and puppy (and Netflix), which is a damn lot! One of the many perks to my job is meeting amazing people and their businesses, many of which are food related. Last weekend I was invited to the taste testing/viewing of the new menu for 2 Doors Tapas & Wine Bar in Dubbo.
The dishes were brought out in order, starting with entree's then mains. Each plate that was bought out was explained to us including the ingredients, how it was cooked, and why different elements were chosen to make the dish. 2 Doors' owner, Donnamaree O'Neill, is so passionate about not only the food she creates, but the experience that comes along with it. She wants to ensure that she is offering something different for Dubbo, something unique and memorable.
Tapas are traditionally a wide variety of both cold and hot appetizers or snacks in Spanish cuisine. This menu has more of a Mediterranean flare, using influences from Spain all the way down to Italy. Each plate boasts an explosion of flavour to test your tastebuds, leaving you wanting more.
Tapas are to be enjoyed over a longer period of time, leaving you feeling satisfied at the end rather than totally busted. Smaller portions means you get to sample more dishes and flavours, paired with matching wines or liquors.
If you're like me and look for an experience to go along with great food, I highly suggest giving 2 Doors a try. The relaxed alfresco style environment sets the scene for a night of shared dining and enjoyment with good company, or choose to sit inside among the cosy sandstone walls for a more intimate atmosphere.
I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon with the 2 Doors team and I can't wait to head back there with my own family and friends. I've dined here many times before and each time I'm more than satisfied with my service, the food and the whole experience.
Just look at these images and see if you can imagine what the smells would be like. I'm certainly reminded of them going through these...
2 Doors is located at 215 Macquarie Street in Dubbo, just look for the big red doors.
